Mission
To support Baylor University investigators and students in their research endeavors by providing instrumentation, consultation, and education.
We strive to provide equipment and training that may not be commonly available in individual research laboratories but that can be widely used by the University. The MBC also aims to stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and promote learning in a research environment.
Location
The MBC main lab is located in the Baylor Sciences Building at Baylor University, room C305R. Entry to this facility is via approved card access only.
The BSB Sterilizer Facility and the MBC cell culture facilities are located in the Baylor Sciences Building, room D307. Entry to these facilities is via approved card access only.
Use of the Facility
The Molecular Biosciences Center (MBC) is available for use by Baylor University faculty, staff, and students and operates as a controlled-access research environment.
The center supports a broad and interdisciplinary user base, with researchers and students from multiple Baylor departments utilizing its facilities, including Biology; Chemistry & Biochemistry; Environmental Science; Psychology & Neuroscience; Geology; Health, Human Performance, & Recreation; and Engineering & Computer Science. Faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, research staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students are welcome to use the MBC in support of their research goals. Additionally, small- to medium-sized lab groups are welcome to use the MBC for instructional purposes with prior approval. This includes accommodating Baylor teaching laboratories as well as providing space for outreach and engagement programs such as those aimed at high school students.
The MBC operates under the direct supervision of Dr. Michelle Nemec, Center Director. Oversight of the core research facilities housed within the Baylor Sciences Building is provided by Dr. Bernd Zechmann, Associate Director for Core Research Centers.
